Open since 1996 by the Alpes-Maritimes Department, the Museum of Marvels is closely linked to the Mount Bego's valleys: Merveilles and Fontanalba. From the end of Neolithic Age, about 5,000 years ago, people from the region engraved there some 50,000 symbols on about 4,000 rocks, what makes this site the largest listed place of historic interest in France.
The permanent exhibition displays several main themes: from both human and landscape evolution to archaeology and proto-historical engravings. From world rock art to the historical discovery of the Mount Bego region. From territorial history to the historical engravings and popular arts and traditions.
The Museum of Marvels is a lively permanent exhibition place where research on this exceptio-nal archaeological and ethnological site is on-going. The Museum also supports its work on everybody whatever the age.
The Museum also provides guided tours, educatio-nal activities and workshops for schools as well as for adults (prices and booking on request).
