Between Provence and the Camargue, 25 km/15½ miles from Nîmes, Arles and Avignon, on a wine-growing estate in the AOC controlled wine-growing region of Costières de Nîmes, and located along and member of the «Routes Historiques» [Historical Routes], lies a life-size reconstruction of a remarkable Gallo-Roman wine-cellar. Built with the help of CNRS archaeologists, the cellar is in full working order for making wine the old way: fulling mill, wooden wine press, amphorae and earthenware jars. Big screen film about grape-harvesting in Roman times, introduction to the taste and aroma of «archaeological wines», with grape juice for the children. Exhibition about vines and wines in ancient times. A Roman-style garden and vineyard take you to the archaeological site.
