In a valley in the heart of the Romanesque Conflent region and at the foot of the Canigou, Saint-Michel Abbey is an exceptional architectural complex with the pre-Romanesque grand church of the 10th Century, the Romanesque-Lombard bell-tower, the marvellous crypt of the 11th Century and the remains of a Romanesque cloister dating back to the 12th Century - the first to be sculptured in Catalonia and the largest in the Pyrenees.
