Throughout Antiquity, Eburomagus, later known as Bram, was the largest agglomeration on the Via Aquitania Roman road between Toulouse and Narbonne. Initially Gaulish in the 1st century BC, then Gallo-Roman up until the 5th century, it was a thriving centre for trade and crafts. Amphorae, everyday objects and funerary furniture are some of the remains that have been uncovered during forty years of excavations and prospection. Above and beyond the site itself, the museum offers an archaeological discovery of the whole western area of the Aude department: from the traces of prehistoric man to the circular villages of the Middle-Ages, without forgetting the rural areas and villas of the Roman period. The exhibition is presented in an original way and is supported by aerial photographs and an explanatory film.
